Clarence Brantley is an experienced entrepreneur who has launched several successful companies during the course of his career. He says that one of the great joys in his life now is traveling.
There are those who will tell you that when you travel, be careful not to drink the water. Maybe so. But a recent study shows that questions of water quality aside, traveling can actually keep you healthy. According to a study by the Global Commission on Aging and the Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies, in partnership with the United States Travel Association, put together a study showing that travel can have the same sort of physical and cognitive benefits as can a trip to the museum.
More specifically, the study said that women who take a vacation every six years or less have a much higher risk of getting a heart attack than to women who take a vacation at least two times a year. Men who don’t take at least one vacation per year have a twenty percent higher risk of death and a thirty percent higher risk of contracting heart disease, than those who do.
Not only that, but the benefits you can reap from travel start kicking in, almost as soon as you pack your bags. The study showed that eighty-nine percent of those who responded to the survey saw significant drops in their stress levels within a day or two starting their vacations.
The kinds of traveling that Clarence Brantley most enjoys includes yachting, and deep sea tournament fishing.
